This probably should be put in the Off-Topic section of this site since it doesn't directly relate to law or politics so much as just some things that I had been pondering on. I often find myself thinking about the world around me and individuals that inhabit the space around me so it leaves a lot of questions to be answered.
If you read my book,
Slavery to SLAVE: America & the UNITED STATES (1st or 2nd edition), in every chapter there are these little paragraphs entitled 'Something to think about:'. These paragraphs were placed there to make the reader think about what they were reading because stupidity seems to be rampant nowdays. Don't get me wrong, it's not necessarily the individual's fault, but rather the "system".
For instance, when carrying out the death penalty issued from a court, why sterilize the needle, or swab the injection site, for a lethal injection? They afraid the poor slob is going to get an infection and die? They could cut down on the cost of medical supplies if they reuse the needle 2 or 3 times. After all, they are there to kill the person when carrying out capital punishment.
Yeah, we've made some real progress over the last 63 years. Speaking of 'progress', here's something else to ponder on.
The definition of 'progress' is the "extent of the advance or move toward the completion or attainment of an objective". So, if the prefix 'pro', in definition, is "in favor or for something", then the opposite would be 'con' (disfavors or against something). So, by default, the definition of 'congress' would be the "extent of the retreat or hindrance toward the completion or attainment of an object"? Other than a capital letter at the beginning, I really can't see much of a difference between the 'Congress' and 'congress'. It's unfortunate that what one defines the other one does.
Granted it's all politics, but has anyone bothered to break down the word 'politic' in order to get a clear definition of what, and whom, they are dealing with? 'Poli' is derived from Latin and means 'many' and we all know what a 'tic' (blood-sucking parasite) is. So there you have it. 'Politics' are "many blood-sucking parasites". A 'politician' is 'one of many blood-sucking parasites', and anything 'political' is "the crap that many blood-sucking parasites shit out while sucking you dry".
Oh, and here's another question that has always had me baffled, too. Has anyone seen the headline where it says "Psychic Wins Lottery"? Has anyone ever bothered to wonder why?
What about them doctors and lawyers? Why is it that they call what they do 'practice'? Should it not make sense if that if they are 'practicing' something, they still don't know it? It's a real comforting thought, I'm sure. Think about that when you're voting for healthcare reform in Novemeber, America!
